The Edge costs too much ...

I speak to parents and coaches every day and many times the first thing I hear is, "The Edge is too expensive." My automatic reply is, "Ok, how much does training cost?" At which point I don't get an answer. The lesson I learned (a very important one) is that perception is often more real than reality. From a parent's point of view I know every dollar has to be accounted for and while you want your son/daughter to become a better athlete, it has to be at an acceptable cost. From a business point of view, I need to keep the lights on and continue to provide an outstanding service to our athletes. The real issue is how to meet in the middle and satisfy both sides.

I think our Fall 2009 classes go a long way toward this goal.

We have Edge 360 - small, athlete specific training classes and you must receive approval from an Edge coach before joining. The sessions last for 6 weeks and cost $300. Only 36 athletes will be allowed in per 6 week session. Edge 360 isn't just for all-star athletes. The training is a commitment from the athletes/parents and from Edge coaches. Some will be all-stars, some will be coming back from an injury and some will be athletes who just need extra attention.

We have Edge F.A.S.T. - the number one request from athletes is how to become faster. By focusing on speed and agility (yes, increasing your strength is part of making you faster) we can offer an affordable training class and still exceed the expectations of our athletes. This training class is only $65 per month!

We now have a class that specifically targets ACL Prevention - our CSCS coaches are trained to teach athletes how to jump, land and pivot the right way. This class is only $85 per month.

Starting in September we'll be offering sport specific training classes that focus on improving the core abilities needed to excel in baseball, softball, volleyball, football, basketball and more. We don't teach you how to dribble, shoot, tackle - we do work on foot speed, core strength, vertical jump, power, etc. The cost of these classes is only $75 per month.

It doesn't matter if you want to play in college or just make the team in middle/high school - if you want to become a better athlete then The Edge has a training class for you.

I wholeheartedly endorse the comments made. The Edge is very competively priced and reasonable. Coaches who provide individual one-on-one lessons or clinics charge way more than the six-week class fee offered at the Edge. There is not a Pro-Level or College-Level coach anywhere who will not tell an athlete to train and train hard to get better. You can try to do it on your own or even at another facility but I know of no other facility in this area that has the level of instructors and equipment the Edge brings to high school athletes. It is a great investment in your child for just more than the physical training.

I have been an Edge Parent for more than two years. I have seen my son develop not only his physical athletic skills, but forge new friendships, along with observing the instructors first hand mentoring of life skills. The instructors set examples and reinforce the principle of doing what is right in life. The instructors have high individual standards and set an example. On those days where an athlete is down in the dumps for some reason, they work on helping the athlete get back on track.
